About Museo Faro Colón
The Columbus Lighthouse Museum, located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is a monument and museum built in honor of Christopher Columbus. Inaugurated in 1992, it commemorates the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. In the shape of a cross, the building serves as a lighthouse and emits a powerful beam of light towards the sky. Inside, it houses exhibits of historical artifacts, documents, and objects from various American and European cultures, as well as a crypt that supposedly contains the remains of Columbus. The museum is a cultural symbol and a tourist landmark in the city.
